Baptism is no mere social convention, but the Sacrament in which Christ Himself purifies, justifies and sanctifies your child for eternal life. (1 Peter 1:23) We rejoice with you in the birth of your child and look forward to welcoming him/her into the family of God and the communion of the Holy Catholic Church!
The Catechism teaches: “The fruit of Baptism, or baptismal grace, is a rich reality that includes forgiveness of original sin and all personal sins, birth into the new life by which man becomes an adoptive son of the Father, a member of Christ and a temple of the Holy Spirit. By this very fact the person baptized is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ, and made a sharer in the priesthood of Christ.” (CCC 1279)
PREPARATIONS FOR PARENTS – INFANT BAPTISM
First Baptismal Prep Session – Schedule an initial session with Jaime Calvin to discuss your family background, faith life and the Sacrament of Baptism. Sessions can be scheduled in person at our parish offices.
Second Baptismal Prep Session – Attend the Understanding & Celebrating New Life through Baptism session where we discuss the Sacrament of Baptism within the holy Mass and how to live out the Baptismal call and mission within your family. Godparents are also welcome to attend. This meeting is scheduled on every first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm at St. Cyprian Church. In case of a holiday weekend, the meeting will be moved to the second Tuesday of the month.
